Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder‪ (PTSD) may develop after a person is exposed to one or more traumatic events. This event might be a serious accident, physical or sexual assault or something disturbing that you have held as an inner secret over a long period of time. Traumatic events may also include an abusive up bringing, being in an abusive relationship or being the victim of domestic violence. ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

People working in jobs that can be extremely dangerous such as the Police, or Military forces are also more likely to experience some level of PTSD.

Symptoms of PTSD may include; experiencing disturbing flashbacks; avoidance or numbing of memories of the event; extreme anxiety; bouts of rage; uncharacteristic behaviors; a sense of hopelessness; dissociation from friends and family; depression and an inability to integrate into mainstream society.
